"marry a doctor"

That's what my college professor told me when I graduated with a degree in playwriting...and zero ideas of how to make money as a writer. There were no doctors in sight so I took a different road. Instead of moving to Brooklyn to live the starving artist life, I moved back home, bought a rental property and then another, and saved 70% of my income. The goal? To fund my own damn writing.

if you knew your writing would never make money, would you still do it?
